Recording Session Procucing

Recording is a wonderful experience of artistic creation, it can also be a daunting and stupendous undertaking. This is where your producer is critical in helping you bring your creation to life. A producer’s job is to help the group of artists achieve their vision during a recording session. To get through a session and execute the material you have planned, you need to be efficient, relaxed, and focused on making YOUR ART together. You need someone in the booth who understands your vision and how to help you achieve it. Someone with experienced ears who can critically listen and guide you to your pinnacle of execution and expression, who can also communicate with an engineer. Someone who has many times been in the room under the pressure and knows when to encourage a few more takes and when it’s time for a break.

I have been involved with recording sessions for more than 20 years, mostly as a musician, but also as a producer and observer. I know the process from start to finish, and what it takes to deliver during the session. Whether it’s a classical chamber ensemble, jazz group, or a rock band, I understand how to help a group of musicians get through the session technically and musically resulting in a product they’ll be proud of.
